Coupling Lock User Guide

Trailer coupling locks are a great tool when trying to prevent trailer theft. Although they are not 100% full proof, they do stop the opportunist as a visual

Coupling locks can be used in 2 different circumstances:                                                                                                         –  When the trailer is attached to a car, & –  When the trailer is free standing. Whilst on a tow vehicle: Place the coupling lock under the tow bar ensuring that the lock ring slides over the tow ball nut on the bottom preventing the lock from moving. Place the slide across the top of the trailers coupling and apply a padlock. * This will prevent anyone from removing the trailer from the car.

Whilst free-standing: Place the bottom of the coupling lock up, into the trailers coupling where the tow ball would normally go. Place the slide across the top of the trailer coupling and apply a padlock. *This will prevent anyone from being able to place the trailer onto another car and driving away.

*NOTE – COUPLING LOCKS SHOULD ONLY BE USED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. IF USED WHEN TURNING, THE LOCK MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TOWING VEHICLES BUMPER. *NOTE – SMALLER PADLOCKS ARE USUALLY MORE EFFECTIVE AS THEY ARE ENCASED BY THE STEEL OF THE COUPLING LOCK, MAKING IT HARD TO REMOVE WITH BOLT CUTTERS.
